Talking tech since 2003

Just as quick as it appeared, Qwikster has been killed off by Netflix.  You may remember our thoughts on the launch of Qwikster being skeptical.  It seemed to be a rushed and reactive launch and it was.  According to the Netflix blog, in a post by Reed Hastings (CEO of Netflix), they have canned Qwikster and will be keeping DVD rentals on Netflix.com.

It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.

This means no change: one website, one account, one password… in other words, no Qwikster

You think?  These are some of the exact reasons we highlighted as being a potential problem in our article.

Hastings goes on to note that they are done with price changes.

So what do you think of the Netflix decision to kill off Qwikster so quickly?  I’m all for it, but I also think they shouldn’t have gone ahead and announced it in the first place.
