Talking tech since 2003

Editor’s Note: In addition to operating BestTechie, I am the founder/CEO of KYA, an analytics company for digital publishers. This post was originally published on the KYA blog. I’m very excited about this new podcast we’re launching soon, I hope you will give it a listen once it’s live!

So we had this idea towards the end of 2015 to start something new and fun in the new year. The idea we had was to launch a podcast called Know Your Audience that would interview journalists, bloggers, audience development/analytics professionals, data scientists, and digital publishing executives. But in addition to just interviewing these people we wanted to create a platform for which we could start a meaningful conversation about what it takes to create engaging content and how to go about best serving your audience.

The digital publishing industry is changing and now more than ever we need to work together to best understand how to create amazing content day in and day out for our audiences. If we can do that, we’ll be able to find success.

Some important things you need to know about this podcast:

Independence

The Know Your Audience podcast will for all intents and purposes be entirely independent from KYA. How is that possible? Well, for starters, the host of the podcast is not a direct employee of KYA. The host is Jenna Matecki. She’s an incredible interviewer with a background in analytics and media. She also hosts her own podcast called Notes on Doing.

So because of that, no one at KYA (including myself) is involved in writing the interview questions and/or topics of conversation for each episode. I want this podcast to be able to stand on its own.

Powered by KYA

Those words above are pretty much the only advertisement for our product (KYA) that you will hear in the podcast. Like I said before, we’re not involved in writing any questions or topics and we will not be pressuring Jenna to promote KYA at any point in the conversation. The only way we decided KYA would come up in conversation is if it happened organically through the discussion.

In the same vein, just because this is a “powered by KYA” podcast does not mean we will restrict or censor conversation in anyway. Talking about competiting products is certainly not frowned upon. We want an open discussion, no matter where it goes. Period.

When Does It Launch?

Well this is an important question, right? We’re currently in the process of recording a bunch of episodes and the plan is to launch the podcast in early February 2016.

It will be available on iTunes as well as some other sources. We’ll have more details about where and how to listen once we’re live.

So Who’s Going To Be On?

We have a wide range of people who we’ve scheduled already. I don’t want to name names because that would spoil the surprise, but suffice it to say, the early interviewees are an impressive bunch. I promise you will not be disappointed.

If you are in the space and are interested in being on the podcast, please get in touch with me through the contact page (it goes to my inbox) and we’ll take it from there.

I think that covers everything! If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment or send a message through the contact page. We’re all ready excited about this at KYA and we hope you will give our new podcast a listen come early February!
