Talking tech since 2003

Well, it’s official: Apple is holding an event on September 9 to announce…something. Reports that Apple would hold an event on that date first hit two weeks ago, but the company stayed characteristically silent about the matter until today. Of course, they still have yet to even hint at what they might be showing off that day, but everyone’s got more than a few guesses.

A post on TechCrunch reports that Apple has started sending out invitations adorned with this image:

Moreover, the event will be held at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, CA. Almost without question, we’ll hear more about the official release of iOS 8, which was first shown at WWDC back in June. Additionally, the iPhone 6 – at least one model of the rumored two types of iPhone 6 – will also likely be the main event at this event.

But that isn’t all. Rumors of an iWatch reveal for the fall have been swirling for sometime, with Re/code just yesterday claiming that we’d see the iWatch in action on stage on September 9. As to whether or not that actually happens is anybody’s guess. Personally, I have a feeling that we won’t, but I sincerely hope that we do.

We also heard information about a new iPad that’s in the works from Apple, one with a 12.9-inch display, which would make it the largest iPad made yet. If it’s actually happening, it would certainly make sense for Apple to use the September 9 event to lift the curtain.

In short, Apple seems to have some big plans for September 9. We’ll be sure to keep our eyes on that day for some big news – will you?
