Website Maker Webydo Partners with Ecwid for Easy E-Commerce
A couple months ago we brought you a glimpse at Webydo, a pretty solid-looking website creation service that makes things easy for folks who don’t even know code. Considering that my own website (this is where I would put the URL, but I’m ashamed at how crappy it is) hasn’t been updated in sometime, now that I know about Webydo, I’m thinking about checking it out. And now’s probably a good time, especially if I want to try and sell stuff through my website, since Webydo has partnered up with e-commerce widget maker Ecwid.
The joining of forces between Webydo and Ecwid seem poised to make a pretty big difference for people interested in doing business for themselves. The interest in handmade and online-sold goods has never been higher considering the rise of sites like Etsy and eBay. For sellers who manage to gain a reputation, it may be in their best interests to cut those middlemen out of the equation and sell their wares directly from their own sites. With easy-to-use tools like Webydo and Ecwid (despite the hard-to-read names), it seems like this partnership will be a great match for people looking to get a foothold in e-commerce.
Shmulik Grizim, the co-founder and CEO of Webydo, offered up this statement on the partnership, which was officially announced via press release today:

Through this partnership, professional designers can now use the best e-commerce solution on the market within Webydo’s professional web creation platform, enjoying total creative freedom and independence in creating custom designed business websites with sophisticated online stores.”
While my own website, which mostly acts as a repository of the articles I’ve written over the last several years, wouldn’t have much need for selling anything directly to consumers, the band I play in might be interested in going down this road. Currently we sell our music through secondary channels, but it might not be a bad idea to see if Webydo and Ecwid can offer us some solutions for when we get our t-shirts done. Now that I know it’s out there, I’m definitely going to bring this up at our next meeting.
Overall, my interest is piqued in this new partnership. It’s always great when services come around that put the power back into the hands of the people. Webydo and Ecwid’s partnership does just that.
