Uber, the startup transportation company that’s normally known for connecting taxi-needing citizens with for-hire citizen drivers, is getting deeper into the home delivery business. After the success of its ice cream on-demand service this summer, the company is preparing to launch its latest seasonal endeavor : Christmas tree delivery.

That’s right – starting tomorrow, you can use your Uber app to order a Home Depot Christmas tree on-demand and have it delivered right to your very doorstep. You don’t even have to change out of your pajamas or put down your hot cocoa to do it.

There’s a catch, though – this service, like Uber itself, is limited to certain cities and regions. If you live in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Diego, San Francisco, or Washington DC, you can order a tree of your very own starting tomorrow morning. If you live outside of those areas, well, you probably don’t know what Uber is anyway.

Or you live close enough to a Christmas tree farm that ordering a tree on your phone would actually require more effort.

How it Works

tree

Starting at 11am and running until 8pm tomorrow, you can request an UberTree via your Uber iPhone or Android app. Each tree costs $135 (plus delivery fees), and includes a 7-8 ft. netted tree, a tree stand, and an “Uber gift.”

Your tree will be delivered to the location you geographically requested it from, meaning you probably shouldn’t order it on the way home from work, unless you want your $135+ tree sitting in the middle of the interstate. Unless that’s how you plan to spread the holiday cheer. In which case, go forth and spread that jolly cheer.

If you’d like to forego the go-out-with-your-family-and-pick-out-a-fresh-tree-together tradition, or you simply don’t have a plastic one to lug down from the attic, then an UberTree might just be the perfect alternative this year.
