Talking tech since 2003

A new report by All Things D states that the next iPhone will be announced at a special September 10th event.  This report comes shortly after Apple-insider Jim Dalrymple “Nope’d” the original rumor of a September 6th event as reported by MacRumors.  While nothing has been officially confirmed, All Things D does have a good track record with regard to many rumors.

A new iPhone is something Apple needs in order to continue to compete in the smartphone marketplace.  However, despite not having released a new iPhone for just about a year now, Apple still sold over 30 million iPhones in its last quarter.  Additionally, rumors of a lower-cost and more colorful plastic iPhone (dubbed the iPhone 5C) have also been swirling around the web.  Lastly, I’d say no matter when the iPhone event is, it’s safe to expect that the final version of iOS 7 will be released alongside the next iPhone.
