Comic book and entertainment company Marvel is creating four live-action superhero shows exclusively for Netflix in 2015. The shows will tie in with an Avengers-style special event that will also be exclusive to the streaming service.

The first series will focus on Daredevil, the second on Jessica Jones, the third on Iron Fist, and the fourth on Luke Cage. Each series will run for a 13+ episode-long season and tie-in to a special called The Defenders. Marvel was quite secretive as to its particular length and format.

All we know is that, according to Marvel, it “reimagines a dream team of self-sacrificing, heroic characters.”

Marvel Television will produce these shows in conjunction with ABC Television Studios, joining the list of studios that will exclusively air content on the Netflix network. Other notable studios include Disney, Pixar and LucasFilm.

“This deal is unparalleled in its scope and size, and reinforces our commitment to deliver Marvel’s brand, content and characters across all platforms of storytelling. Netflix offers an incredible platform for the kind of rich storytelling that is Marvel’s specialty,” said Alan Fine, President of Marvel Entertainment.

“This serialized epic expands the narrative possibilities of on-demand television and gives fans the flexibility to immerse themselves how and when they want in what’s sure to be a thrilling and engaging adventure.”
