Talking tech since 2003

The creator of the gaming sensation Flappy Bird now says he is bringing the game back. In an interview with CNBC, Dong Nguyen said the new version would be a multiplayer game that is “less addictive” than its predecessor. You may remember that Nguyen famously pulled the game from app stores earlier this year because he was worried that the game’s millions of fans were spending too much time playing the game.

So if you didn’t get a chance to play Flappy Bird prior to Mr. Nguyen pulling the game, come August, you will be in luck.  That being said, its been months now and even though the game attracted more than 50 million downloads, you have to wonder whether or not people will care about the new version.  I suspect many will flock (no pun intended!) to download the app, but whether or not it will see the same type of success as the original version is a question that will only be answered once the update is released.  After all, that type of success is hard to repeat.

If you haven’t yet, be sure to check out our video of the rise and fall of Flappy Bird.
