Talking tech since 2003

Last week we reported on the rumors that Google Fiber would be arriving in Austin, Texas and as it turns out, the rumors were correct. Today, Google and the City of Austin announced that Google Fiber will be rolling into Austin, Texas by mid-2014.

Austin will be the second city, after Kansas City, for Google Fiber, its high-speed broadband and TV service.

It’s also worth mentioning that we are seeing more details emerging from analysts with regard to how much rolling out its fiber business is going to cost Google.  One of the most recent reports published by Bernstein yesterday stated that they believe it would cost Google $11 billion if it decided to go for a medium-sized national rollout.
