Looking to add to your video game collection? From April 6 through April 12, Target will make it pretty cost-effective for you to do so. The retailer plans to offer a Buy 2, Get 1 Free deal on “over a thousand titles across all game systems.”

target-adYou can check out the circular ad to the right. Indeed, there are games from many last-gen and next-gen systems; some pretty major titles, too.

For the newer systems, the very recent Titanfall for Xbox One is displayed in the ad, as are several PlayStation 4 titles, such as Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Thief. The Wii U also has several games featured, including Super Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze.

Gamers who are still in the previous generation can find new titles like Dark Souls II for the PlayStation 3, or South Park: The Stick of Truth for the Xbox 360. There are a few Nintendo 3DS games shown and one PC game: The Elder Scrolls Online.

That said, this is just an ad that shows some of the bigger-name titles; if you have your heart set on a certain game, it could be eligible for the 2-for-1 deal. But we won’t know more until the deal goes into effect next Sunday.

There are some conditions to this deal. For starters, Target won’t be doing rain checks for games that become sold out. And Target will give you the least-expensive game of your three titles for free; this means that buying two $60 games and one $20 game will get you a free $20 game. The best way to make the most of a deal like this one, then, is to use it on all-new games. Paying $120 for $180 worth of games? That’s not bad at all.

If you’re a cross-platform gamer, it’s also a pretty good way to buy games for a few different systems while saving some money. You could, for instance, pick up an Xbox One game, a PlayStation 4 game and a Wii U game, and get one of them for free.

We’ll keep you up to speed on this deal and let you know if anything changes. In the meantime, if you see a good deal at Target or anywhere else, let us know!
