Talking tech since 2003

It’s true. I pre-ordered the new Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ (16GB) tablet. The reason? I was impressed by Jeff Bezos’ keynote. Impressed enough that it got me to hit the pre-order button. The only other company that has ever got me to pre-order on the same day of an announcement is Apple.

What impressed me, you ask?

For starters, I think the new Kindle Fire HD is a much better release than the original. I feel like a lot more development time and thought went into this generation. It’s not just the upgraded hardware that I’m talking about either, but let’s be clear, the hardware in the new Kindle Fire is a huge improvement. I was mostly impressed with Bezos’ dedication to the customer, which he clearly emphasized in his keynote.

He knows that all of the Kindle’s are just gateway products to getting people to purchase other products on Amazon and with that knowledge, he set out to create a great tablet to do just that. I think that’s brilliant. I applaud him for that and I’m willing to try out his product.

I’m hoping it doesn’t disappoint. I will have a full review of the Kindle Fire HD in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out.

Did you pre-order the new Kindle Fire HD? If so, why or why not?
