The Un-Carrier (T-Mobile) was happy yesterday when it rolled out the iPhone 5 onto its network. Apparently lines formed outside of most T-Mobile stores around the country with people waiting to get their hands on a T-Mobile iPhone 5.

While the company didn’t specify how many iPhone 5’s they sold, Chief Marketing Officer Mike Sievert did tell AllThingsD that, “Today has been gangbusters for T-Mobile,” he went on to say that, “We experienced lines out the door this morning at nearly all of our almost 3,000 stores nationwide.”

I happened to be in New York City yesterday and while I walked past a T-Mobile store on 34th Street between 6th and 7th avenue, it was definitely crowded. At least, more crowded than I’ve ever seen that particular T-Mobile store before (and I’ve walked past it quite a bit).

Additionally, on Thursday, the company launched a new national TV ad touting its iPhone 5 with print and digital ads to follow soon. You can watch the TV ad below.

If you ask me, I’m happy to see T-Mobile making a real fight to get back in the game, we could use another big carrier to add some more competition to the mix. I’m routing for T-Mobile to make Verizon and AT&T sweat a little.
