Talking tech since 2003

Google’s mysterious breakfast event is today, but based on this new pre-order page on Best Buy’s website for the brand new Nexus 7, it is starting to look a bit less mysterious.  Why wait for Google to announce it when you can steal the limelight for yourself?  I’m guessing that’s Best Buy’s thought process.  Then again, we already saw the leaked Best Buy ad earlier this week, which confirmed the pricing of the new 7-inch Google tablet, so this is just like a re-confirmation.

In terms of specs, similar to what we have already seen leaked, the highlight of the new Nexus 7 is the 1920 x 1200 display resolution, with a fine 323ppi pixel density. There’s also 2GB of RAM, a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 8064 processor with Adreno 320 graphics, and the rear camera’s resolution is 5 megapixels. The 16GB Nexus 7 costs $229.99 and the 32GB option is listed at $269.99.

Another confirmation of previous leaks is that Android 4.3 will be running on the new Nexus 7, which still keeps the Jelly Bean name.  It also makes it seem likely that Google will be announcing Android 4.3 at this morning’s breakfast event hosted by Android and Chrome OS chief, Sundar Pichai.

The new Nexus 7 is definitely an appealing tablet — thinner, faster, higher-resolution.  Do you want one?
