Sony's Xperia ZL Comes to U.S., Pricing Starts at $719

Sony’s lack of current dominance in the smartphone marketplace has become even more apparent today when it announced that it will be selling the Xperia ZL in the U.S. unsubsidized and unlocked.  The reason for this decision?  Sony has found very little carrier support, so the Xperia ZL will sell for $719 (or $40 more for the LTE version).

As we wrote about earlier this year during CES when the Sony Xperia ZL was originally announced, the new flagship Sony smartphone sports a 5-inch screen, a 13-megapixel camera, and 1.5GHz quad-core chip (Snapdragon S4).  It also features Near Field Communication (NFC) and a special battery-improving mode that turns off power-draining applications when the screen is dark.

You can start pre-ordering the phone today on Sony’s Online Store.
