Samsung Galaxy S5 Specs Rumored Once More, Sounds Impressive

A new report this morning claims to know exactly what Samsung is planning for its next flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S5. If it’s at all accurate, the next phone in the successful Galaxy lineup may house a 2K resolution display, a 16 megapixel camera, and a new chassis option.

The report, which comes from SamMobile, claims that Samsung is finally addressing substantial complaints about build quality, screen fidelity, and image capture quality. As far as specific tech specs are concerned, the report claims we’ll see the S5 available in both metal and plastic frames, though the metal frame will cost more (the report approximates 800 Euros compared to the 600 Euro plastic model).

This latest phone will also reportedly include a 2560 x 1440 display, often labeled a “2K” display, and could be 5.25 inches diagonally in length. This puts the phone into the category this industry stupidly labels as “phablet” territory, but would also make it one of the top contenders in the display density competition.

SamMobile also claims the S5 will include a 16-megapixel camera, and either a Exynos 6 processor or Qualcomm’s latest output in the Snapdragon series, the 805. The device will, in all likelihood, run Android 4.4 KitKat as its OS iteration of choice.

These leaks match up with past rumors of the device, and as this industry tends to repeat itself in this process, these specs seem likely enough to believe in – for now. If the phone is to be announced soon, analysts are predicting anywhere from March to April to be Samsung’s choice announcement window.

But remember, as we always say at BestTechie, take this rumor with a grain of salt. In fact, we don’t even know if this phone will be called the Galaxy S5. It could be called the BananaFlip5S-9000. I mean, it’ll probably be the Galaxy S5, but you can never be too sure in this wild west we call the tech industry.

But who knows? Perhaps you’ll have an S5 in your hand by summer vacation. Or a BananaFlip5S-9000.
