'Plants vs Zombies 2' heading to iOS tomorrow

So let’s say you’ve already run through our list of the six best games to play this summer and you’re looking for something new to try. Sure, you could replay Plants vs Zombies for the hundredth time, or you could wait until tomorrow and get your hands on the long awaited sequel to the insanely popular 2009 mobile game. That’s right, Plants vs. Zombies 2 is heading to your mobile phone tomorrow… as long as you have an iOS device, that is.

Apple itself has posted the news on their App Store Facebook page, along with the promotional image above. Plants vs. Zombies creator PopCap had originally claimed that Plants vs. Zombies 2 would be released to consumers sometime in July, however the company has clearly missed that deadline by a couple of weeks now.

No news as to what other platforms Plants vs. Zombies 2 is heading for just yet, however all signs point to an eventual release for a variety of platforms. The original Plants vs. Zombies game, which was also originally released for iOS, went on to become a best seller on OS X, Android, Windows Phone, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo DS, BlackBerry, and more.

Plants vs. Zombies 2 will go for the low low price of free when it finally hits the App Store tomorrow, though PopCap has announced that they will be offering several optional in-app purchases for more dedicated players.   If you’re as excited as I am for this long awaited game, be sure to let us know in the comments!

Update: It’s now available! Download it from the App Store.
