Nexus 10 User Guide Leaks, Confirms Device

Ever since the launch of the Nexus 7 back in July, rumors of a 10-inch Nexus tablet have followed. Those rumors really picked up steam in the past week or so, when a source for online publication The Next Web tipped the site off to a device known as “Codename Manta.” The Manta tablet supposedly packs a 2560 x 1600 pixel display (higher resolution and pixels-per-inch than the iPad with Retina) into a 10-inch frame, and runs Android version 4.2.

Aside from the word of a source, however, there was still no concrete evidence that a Nexus 10 tablet existed. That is, until today.

Leaked images posted by Korean website Seeko are the most solid pieces of evidence yet that the Nexus 10 tablet does exist, and is being manufactured by Samsung. In the images, you can see the front cover of the Nexus 10 user guide, as well as the spread between pages 4 and 5 detailing the various ports, sensors, and other features on the device. On page 5, you can clearly see the Samsung logo beneath the rear-facing camera and flash.

Google is set to host a special Android event on Monday, October 29 in New York City, and based on these images, the likelihood of seeing a Nexus 10 tablet at that event has gone up significantly. There have also been some other Nexus-brand devices in the rumor mill recently that could see the light of day, such as a cellular-enabled Nexus 7, and a brand-new Nexus smartphone from LG.

If a Nexus 10 tablet does indeed make its way on stage during Google’s Monday event, I expect the tablet to be priced between $299 and $349, putting it into direct competition with the iPad mini and Kindle Fire HD 8.9. If Android developers focus on creating quality tablet applications, the combination of the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 could turn things around for the Android tablet space.
