Netflix Will Help You Be a Terrible Liar to Your Children on New Year's Eve

Trying to get your New Year’s Eve party on, but those annoying kids you had are getting in the way? Netflix has a potential fix — that is, if you’re comfortable lying to your own flesh and blood like some kind of monster.

Netflix is offering a video featuring everyone’s favorite lemur from Madagascar, King Julien. It’s called King Julien New Year’s Eve Countdown, and it basically starts a counterfeit countdown to midnight so that your kids think they’ve stayed up long enough to enter 2015.

The video, of course, assumes that your children are not capable of telling time. If one of the little buggers can read the time on a clock, an animated short starring a lemur is not going to help you. So perhaps you could just tell the kid to go to bed?

According to The Huffington Post, which reported on this video, a poll found that 36 percent of parents would be okay with celebrating New Year’s Eve in a different time zone so that they could do so earlier. So over a third of parents see no problem being dishonest to their impressionable young offspring.

Shame on you.

The Netflix video — again, called King Julien New Year’s Eve Countdown — is three minutes long and is available in a number of countries and regions, including the U.S. and Canada.
