Moto G Details Leak Before Tomorrow’s Motorola Event

I know what you’re thinking after reading this post’s headline: “Tomorrow’s big event? I thought the event was supposed to be today, September 4?” It seems that despite invitations indicating a September 4 date for the big Motorola presser in Chicago – at which the company was expected to offer information about the new Moto G, Moto X, and Moto 360, among others – the actual event with the reveals will go down tomorrow. Meanwhile, details for one of the phones supposedly set for a reveal tomorrow have already leaked online.

First let’s talk about the new Moto G. According to a post on GSMArena, photos (posted below) of the new Moto G have come in from a store in Brazil. Those photos – parsed by Neowin for convenience’s sake – reveal some of the key details we’ll find in the phone when it’s officially revealed tomorrow: it’ll sport a five-inch, 720p, Gorilla Glass display, a Snapdragon 400 quad-core CPU from Qualcomm, 1GB of RAM, an 8 megapixel rear camera, and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera. The post claims it’ll go on sale on September 10 for a budget-friendly price of $250.

The first Moto G was released last fall and was half an inch smaller for only $179 without a contract – a really solid deal. That model had roughly the same specs, too, with only a somewhat less powerful set of cameras and running an older version of Android; the new one will feature Android 4.4.2, and will be available for an upgrade to Android L when it releases later this fall.

As for the big announcement event, it seems that the public announcements will take place tomorrow at 1:30 p.m., Central Time, says a post on 9to5Google. If you want to watch the event as it unfolds, you can check it out on Motorola Mobility’s Google+ Page. Be sure to check back here tomorrow for all the details about Motorola’s new jams.
