The Microsoft Surface Ad Sucks. Here's Why.

Oh, Microsoft — it seems like you are currently the only company who isn’t attempting to emulate Apple’s brilliant TV ads with their own products. Instead of trying to emulate Apple and putting together a mediocre commercial, you came up with this terrible thing.

The commercial for the Microsoft Surface to put it bluntly, flat out sucks. It doesn’t highlight any of the features of the device, or provide insight into what you can use it for every day. No, instead if shows off how the Surface makes a clicking sound when you pop out its kick stand or connect the TouchCover. Aside from that — nothing. The people in the commercial aren’t even using the device, they’re just throwing it around.

Really, Microsoft? Your new tablet is meant to be used as a frisbee? Didn’t think so.

Sure, the commercial seems fun, but it doesn’t make me want to buy the product. I have no idea what I can do with it — why do I need one of these over my iPad?

If Microsoft wants to sell these Surface tablets, they need to advertise the benefits of using them, not that it clicks when you open the kick stand. I might understand if this commercial was released later on in the campaign as a way to portray the Surface as fun and entertaining (hell even that is stretching it), but for it to be the first commercial promoting the Microsoft Surface is bit insane.

What do you think of the Microsoft Surface commercial?
