Microsoft Has Sold 3 Million Xbox One Consoles Since Launch

Microsoft announced this morning on its blog that it has proudly sold over 3 million Xbox One consoles globally in 2013.

“Over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013,” said Mehdi, corporate vice president of marketing, strategy and business for Microsoft’s Xbox division.

Those countries include Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States and New Zealand, all of which had access to the console before the end of November.

The console’s first million was made on day one, November 22, and, according to Microsoft, made its second million sales less than 17 days later. The company also claimed that the Xbox One was the fastest-selling console in the U.S. in that month alone.

For a brand new console launch, that’s a very respectable figure for Microsoft, if not any console manufacturer. We don’t have solid details yet on the standing of Sony’s PlayStation 4 or Nintendo’s Wii U following the holiday rush, but we’ve reached out to these companies and will update this article with any information gathered.
