How Well Is The Microsoft Surface RT Selling? Not Very.

Just how good are sales for the Microsoft Surface RT? Well, it’s hard to tell, but I’d venture to guess not that well. In an interview this weekend, Steve Ballmer said that the sales of the Surface “are starting modestly,” and went on to add that this is due to Surface only being available online and in a few Microsoft stores in the U.S. Or is it?

Apparently, a modest start is not good enough for Ballmer to be willing to provide exact sales numbers of the Surface RT at this time. However, he was very quick to promote the upcoming Surface Pro which will be powered by an Intel processor and also have a higher resolution display, and will most likely cost close to $1,000.

Meanwhile, Apple sold 3 million new iPad’s in three days on launch weekend. At this point, I don’t know how Microsoft will catch up with a product that just isn’t ready for prime time yet.

Also, I’m guessing the (sucky) commercial hasn’t helped either. Or the fact that the 32GB Surface only has 16GB of free space.
