I Hate April Fools Day. It's A Waste of A Day.

The tech industry needs to get over April Fools day.  It’s such a waste of time.  As a tech site that’s trying to cover real tech news, April Fools day sucks.  Why does it suck?  I’ll tell you.

First, I can’t post anything of real significance or value because people won’t know whether or not to believe it.  But perhaps more importantly, I hate posting about these silly jokes because in the grand scheme they are meaningless, they don’t advance technology or the web and they certainly take man hours away from useful innovation. All that time these companies spend on coming up with this ridiculous ideas — what a loss of productivity.  And for what?

Gmail Blue, YouTube shutting down, Google Nose, Samsung Eco Trees, buying vowels on Twitter, International Space Station visiting your site, and the list goes on.

Seriously, that’s the best they could come up with this year?  They should be ashamed.

Where’s the creativity?  At least in 2007 Google had enough brains to come up with the idea to be an ISP via your toilet.  Remember Google TISP?  Perhaps the funniest part about that April Fools joke is that Google is in the ISP business now for real (just not via your toilet).

I hate April Fools day.  Perhaps the only good thing about April 1 is that I can take the day off and not worry about missing anything of importance — it’s basically guaranteed.

What a waste of a day.
