Gmail Introduces A New Inbox With Nifty Sorting Features

The Gmail team just announced the introduction of a brand new Gmail inbox that features nifty new email sorting features to help you with email overload.  It’s launching today and will be rolling out over the next few weeks.

As the Gmail blog post points out, we all get emails from friends, social notifications, deals and offers, confirmations and receipts, and more.  And all of these emails can be tough to sift through with ease, especially when they’re all in the same inbox.  That’s what the new Gmail hopes to solve.  You have your primary inbox, but you can also choose to activate a social inbox, deals/promotions inbox, and even an updates inbox.

The new Gmail inbox actually sounds a lot like Aol’s Alto Mail client which they released a while back, so maybe Aol was really onto something with that.

You can download the latest the Gmail for Android 4.0+ and/or Gmail for iPhone and iPad apps right now.  On the desktop, keep checking the little gear icon on the top right of your screen because as soon as you see the Configure Inbox option appear, you can enable the new Gmail inbox on your account.
