Here's the car while we were working on it

These are pics after we got done before going to the junkyard. I didn't take pictures after we got done working on it after the junkyard. It has new 99-00 mirrors (same as 96-98) and it has some new interior trim and a few other things. We got the radio and tach working. We found the alarm and pitched it. We found a under body neon control box. No neons though. thank god. We pitched it. We got both the headlights working right. Got the turn signals working right. We'll change the tail lights tomorrow. Turns out the ones we have aren't JDM. They are off a 99-00 hatch. We pulled the tail lights off the same 99-00 we pulled the mirrors off of. They're in perfect shape. We're going back to the junkyard tomorrow to get the seats out of the red hatch and maybe the hood. The hatch we got is also off the red one. We also pulled the door handle trim and gauge cluster trim off this car. My hatch is really shaping up.

In these pics all the crap that was on the car is still there with just the wheels added and the bumper reattached. Also, my grille is red.

Ok the muffler in my old car was even bigger, just hidden. Also this ain't a fart can. Fart cans sound horrible. My dad didn't like the sound of my old car. He loves the sound of this one. It's quiter, but not much, and much more race car sounding. I have a red grille cause the green one had the actual grille cut out of the green lining and it looked real ricey and I hate that. I'm getting this grille painted. At least I don't have that bright red hatch on yet. I'm getting it painted before it goes on.

I planned on taking pictures after work but I gotta take a shower and go some where so i''ll post em when I can.

Also that muffler (which does actually muffle a little) was already on the car just like that motor and intake. That intake however is going. I have an AEM short ram on the way. Springs too. The front wheels are actually in the fender wells.

I agree with Liz, hatchbacks are great!!!

Our 1990 Suburu Justy (Turquoise) is a hatchback and even though it's a subcompact we can haul all sorts of stuff.

Biggest thing ever was a Lazy-Boy dark brown vinyl rocker/recliner that I found at a thrift shop for under $50 in perfect condition. Tight fit and hatch didn't close but we securely roped door down to hold it in... though we had to maneuver chair around a bit to find the right way to fit it in, we were able to get it in and out without any damage!!!

We always carry rope and a warning flag for whatever we might buy, such as lumber, 8ft 2x4s or 4xby4s fit fine with hatch closed (if not to many) but 10 footers overhang. We angle the lumber between the front seats, just missing the brake and shift gizmo and my seat belt thingy, then down under the passenger dash in foot rest area, that is of course with laying the back seats as flat as they will go.

Hardest thing we recently hauled was a heavy duty appliance handcart. That one just kept giving trouble fitting it in until I thought about putting it in wheels first and then they nicely hooked over the front facing edge of the flat back seats in space behind the front seats, then we were able to close the hatch door tight. Couldn't do it with cart wheels in back overhanging because of weight pulling the back part down over the back bumper to bounce on every bump in road. Wouldn't even angle in sideways either. For something that looked like it would be so easy to put in, it sure was a pain in the back by the time we found the correct combination. Ha! A salesman on his break was out there just watching and laughing at us and saying no way will it work...and no way were we letting him think we couldn't get it in and door closed!!! Ha!

Back to your cute little new car HondaBoy...I like it, nice color, and it looks like you got a good deal. :thumbsup:

Now no more accidents!!!...you hear me young man??? :rolleyes:

Well my project continues.

Next on my list is this!

My AEM Short Ram Intake! Boy short is the word. The cold air that's in my car right now is actually a modified Ram air. You can see where the extension was added. This short ram is een shorter. But it's alright cause this short ram should produce more power plus it will eliminate the risk of the motor from seizing. Water can get in that cold air but it can't get in a short ram.

Next on my list is to get my new hatch painted in Black Primer. That way it'll still look alright without me having to dump a massive amount to get the whole car painted. I may just do it to the hood too if it ain't too damaged. If it's too damaged then I'll pull another off a different car.

I put the green grille on since the red one had the bumper mounts cut off. I also found out this bumper used to be red cause the mounts cut off the red grille were still screwed on the bumper. So I pulled them off and attached the green grille. Now the bumper and grille are on more securely.

I've got new seats too. I may also put them on tommorrow. My current ones: Driver ripped, passenger nothing wrong really, back seats cigarette burns.

I'll also probably put the new taillights in tommorrow too.

We will be going to my grand mothers after church tommorrow to do this and to try and pull the ole D16Z6 motor out of the 95. We have a new vavle cover form a D16Y7 to put on it. We will also be pullng a few more parts off the 95, plus I need to recover the tire chaning kit from since the one for the 96 is missing.

Man I've got a day of work ahead of me tommorrow.

Man I am PISSED. I get off work today, walk out to the car and start it up and wipe some dew off my windshield. Well it's really fogged so i turn the defroster on and let it sit for a while. I chat with my co-workers for a bit. I get back in the car when the windshield is defogged and I turn the knob on the turn signal stick for my headlights. Something doesn't look right. The building wasn't illuminated. My manager turns his headlights on and yes the building is illuminated. I get out of my car and look at my Type-R headlights and no light other than the corners. BOTH my headlights were out. I'm gonna choke my brother for putting those high power mock HID bulds in. I'm also gonna kick myself for letting him. I grab a spare bulb that was in my glove box and put it in the left housing and turn the knob again, NOTHING.

Crap, either I blew a fuse or whatever my mechanic said was melted when my brother used those same kind of headlights in the 95 is melted in this car. When I got my last car one head light sometimes worked sometimes didn't and then eventually not at all. I had regular bulbs in but my brother had those blue mock HID's in when it was his. I took it to my mechanic cause I knew it wasn't the bulb, plus I had other crap getting fixed. He said there was something melted due to the high power draw from them bulbs. I never changed the bulbs in that car for the 2 years I had it after he fixed it. He also didn't change them either.

What baffles me is he has those same bulbs in his 4Runner and nothing is wrong. I guess his can handle the power draw.

Also no I don't have a budget...................or money for that matter. I just buy stuff as I get the money. Next up is primer for the hatch. When I get the cash to do it, I will.

P.S. my frickin car is sitting at work and we're gonna go pick it up in the morning.

My problem is fro stupidity. Using regualr headlihgts ain't no prob but the folks on Honda-Tech told me there are actually 1 fuse to each headlight so I'm not sure what to think now. When I get back home from Chattanooga I'll check it out.

actually these bulbs you can pick up at any Advance, O'Reily's, NAPA, or Autozone. THe housings that I refer to as Type-R housings, I'm not sure where the guy got them. All I know is Password JDM carries brand new ones OEM from Honda (Japan) for like $500. Too bad mine look so awful. I could say to people "HEY! these housings are worht 500 bucks. That's how much my first car was worth!" if they didn't look like crap.

The non-reflective parts of the Type-R housing are black instead of chrome. Just so you know. It's kinda hard to justify spending $500 to replace them when I could find a set of USDM OEM ones in a junkyard for less than $100. It's $350 for a set of JDM SiR housings. I may drop $1500 for an SiR conversion all together which includes the headlights, though if I ever get the cash. It's got JDM Civic SiR front and Rear bumpers, front fenders with side markers, SiR headlight housings, and bumper trim. The USDM civics lacked bumper trim and side markers. Mine had some side markers grafted in but they suck immensly. One doesn't even work. Heck I really need new fenders and a front bumper anyway. Why buy used USDM bumper and fenders when I can convert this bad boy to a JDM SiR and fix some problems at the same time. Bad-assify and repair in the same package as my bro would probably put it. Only thing is the rear bumper is supposed to be used but still black primed. WELL, I need the all importnat $$$ first. For that I need a job that pays mor than $5.75 and hour and more than 22 hours a week.

I got the headlights fixed, blown fuse. Turns out my wiring has been beefed up to handle higher power bulbs. I also got my intake in. The "cold air intake" that was in it was actually 2 short rams hooked together. My new intake look smuch nicer and doesn't run the risk of getting water in it. I got ALL the lights working now. my center brake light was out and I finally replaced the bulb. I swear, when I remeber I'll get pics of what the beast looks like now.

And the next thing being done is THIS!!!

H&R OE Sport Springs. A slight lowering (or in my case, a lift) to improve track performance without radically changing the look of the vehicle but still giving a noticeable drop. Sweet. Eat that Dodge. I've got a Honda with German engineered suspension.

Ok so the hatch still isn't on but that's cause I haven't hit any body shops up yet for a price. I woulda taken some pics today but it rained all day and still is raining. I'm telling ya'll if I ain't got the hatch painted by December, I'm putting it on anyway for Christmas. I gotta call for an appointment to get my springs put in and get a few other things fixed and yes you have to make an appointment with my mechanic. He's a Honda specialist after all. He's like me too. He's got a 95 EX Coupe in white like my old one and he had the same motor my new car has in it. He blew it up with a super charger, on purpose too, that's what's funny about it. He knew he was putting a new motor in it so he decided to have some fun with the B16. I'm not sure what he's got in that thing now. Maybe a B18 or something.

I blew the other fuse in my headlights too, so now I have 15 amp fuses for both headlights. Apparently 10's can't handle fake HID's.

I really hate the rain now. I hate it so freakin' much. I have been taking turns at in second gear at 10 MPH and slower today. I also hate loose gravel too. They're doing some kinda work off the square and make a right turn right in it coming home from work and it's just like the road being wet. Luckily A. I wasn't goin' fast and B. I noticed real fast and kept the car entirely under control. I'm 'bout to go beat some construction worker hind end if they don't clean that mess up.

P.S. I'm really diggin' this built in spell checker in Firefox 2.0. Maybe my posts won't be as messed up anymore.

i'm personally not a fan of light wieght front wheel drives, i just don't like the feeling of how they drive and handle but boy oh boy is there alot of speed potencial there with such a killer wieght to power ratio. and it looks like you got 1 heck of deal and your doing your homework with finding parts. looks like you've got yourself a nice project there.

well you know I really wanted that $1100 Sport suspension set from Mugen but I had to settle for the $150 springs. It seems H&R is a popular brand for suspension stuff anyway. When I get rich there'll be Mugen all over this car. Maybe some Jun racing stuff too like adjustable cams and what not. Japanese parts out the hind end. I'd drive a right hand drive car if it weren't for the fact it'd be a pain to pass someone on a highway. Ah well, at least when I get about $2000 I'll buy the JDM Civic SiR conversion kit from Password JDM. And when I get even more cash I put a Mugen Aero kit for my car. Under body front and rear spoilers and side sills.

Still no pictures. It's still raining. I hate rain. Hitting VTEC in the rain just ain't safe and I have to keep it extremely slow on turns. I got that intake in just in time too.
