hey all, ok ,everytime i bootup i have a different set of icons runnimg in task bar.anyone ever have this prob & how do i fix the prob. would it have anything to do with a corrupt i386 folder i think its called,because some time ago i had volume control button dissapeared from taskbar,some times its there & sometimes its gone. i tried the microsoft fix for the sound button,& when i tried ti fix it computer disk said improper command & yes ive made sure the box is checked in apply to taskbar, guess maby i have 2 probs here. i hope this

makes sence .if more info is needed please ask........ just learning .....STAY SAFE

What OS are you using?

If XP, try this for your volume icon:

Start / Control Panel / Sounds and Audio Devices / Volume tab...make sure "place

volume icon in taskbar" is checked....and if it is checked already, uncheck it, apply, then

recheck it, then apply

OR:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\double click; sndvol32.exe

OR:

Restore Taskbar to Default Functionality

OR:

Restore Desktop Icons and Taskbar

OR:

Sound Icon - Enable

useing XP pro home upgrade------ from Me ................. ran all the spyware & adware, nada. i did run the restore desk top icon & taskbar. & it is now in my taskbar but ive done other things & its there also. so ill wait and see if it stays there for awhile, usually it goes away .i cant reinstall xp because i only have recovery disk & an old 95 disk, anyway ill wait & see if this fixes the prob. thanks.... 1911 FOR YOUR RESPONCE & INFEKTIOUS........... Hi.

If your taskbar keeps changing It might be a good idea to have one of the HJT pros here check out your log.

I am not sure,but it can not hurt.

it is possible that youve been highjacked so you need to install HJT and send the log file here

get highjackthis from

it also tells you how to read a log file but my advice is to post it here and some one with a bit more experience can help you

HEY MARTY, IVE RAN HJT B4 & PETE C HELPED BUT IT FOUND NOTHING. SOME ONE TOLD ME THEY HAD SAME PROBLEM ,MICROSOFT SAID SOME XP HOME EDITION UPGRADE CD'S MAY OF HAD A BAD SNDVOL32 FILE SO MABY I GOT ONE. .......STAY SAFE FRIEND

hey ,sorry bout those caps, was paying to much attention to taskbar to notice. anyway its gone again ,the volume button & didderent things that keep changing in taskbar. anyone else care to take a shot ???? or maby microsoft is right ??/ THANKS & STAY SAFE
