Hope someone can help me...will sure appreciate your time.

I have downloaded Audacity in order to be able to

split up interviews into different tracks.

On the set up before the actual install,

it has two options selected by default:

* create desktop icon

* associate Audacity project files

I'm wondering what the second one means [associate...].

I don't want Audacity to jump up when I don't want it

or interfere with any other program I use, but I don't want

to take the selection away if it would prevent Audacity

from working.

I feel fine about the program because I have heard

it suggested for quite a while by good sources --probably

on this board too!

Thanks! nancy

When working in Audacity, you can save your projects as audacity files. These arent sound files, but project files, so that you can continue working on them later. All that setting does is say when you double click an audacity project file, it will open in audacity. None of your normal music files will open in audacity by default by just double clicking them.
