I typed what you said and I got a dialog box that said that Windows was already activated. So.what is this supposed to do for me????

the post wasnt meant for people who know it all

it was to demonstrate how to active your key .

chappy is a moderator on this board and he posted that fix .

i got the same result as you so you and i dont have active our key.

is that clear enough or do you want a ball by ball explanation

Try this:

XP

If you have permission or Administrator status, in Windows 2000 and XP, retrieving your key may be a simple matter of opening up the file $WINNT$.INF. in your Windows\System32 folder. This file is used for unattended or automated installs of Windows NT/2000/XP and you will find your Windows key under the section [user Data] which should be right at the top. Your key can be named ProductKey or ProductID

From DOS:

C:\\Windows\System32\$WINNT$.INF

The following is from Doug Knox:

If you can't boot into Windows at all, then you can boot with a Startup Disk (CD support is not required) or into Command Mode Only and type the following command:

For 95:

C:\Windows\Command\Find /I "ProductId" c:\windows\system.dat

For 98/Me:

C:\Windows\Command\Find /I "ProductKey" C:\Windows\System.dat

The first line of the screen dump will look like this:

ProductKey XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX where the X's are your actual CD Key.

NOTE: This will not work in Windows XP

Jetzt fragen Sie sich bestimmt wie das geht! Das ist ganz einfach! Sie melden sich unter dem Menüpunkt "Anmelden" an und bekommen einen=

Now you ask certainly as go yourselves! That is completely simple! They announce themselves under the menu option a "announcing" and get one

Is this correct???
