Lots Of Trouble...[INACTIVE]

Recommended Posts

First off, I really don't know what I'm doing. All help will be appreciated, and I'm desperate.

Now, I've been having computer problems for longer than I can remember, including blue screens of death, probably more than 200... I'm typing in safe mode because I get another bsod when I enter in normal...

At the moment, I don't exaclty know if any of these things are related, but heres what's going on...

- Crashing when I try to log on in normal mode

- (Before the Crashings) when I opened IE, it took me straight to securityuptodate.com or something, but it was not my homepage (I checked)

- I had fake spyware programs like PestTrap, don't know how... I thought I deleted them

- I get ads from no where sometimes, too

I hope that helps.

I don't know if this matters or not, but the permanent crashes started after downloading Prevx1 and rebooting to run it. It doesn't run in safe mode... I'm running Norton Antivirus tonight, already did Spyware S & D a couple times, and am Defragmenting at the moment...

Thanks again, I really need the help.

I see you edit the post...were you able to boot to normal mode and run Hijackthis?? it kinda looks like a normal mode log and not a Safemode log...

If not try the following and see if you can get to normal mode afterwards.

Go to Start > Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok

Scroll down and find the below services:

Ms-java

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, under the General tab click the Stop button, then click the drop-down box to change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Open HijackThis click Scan Only and check the following

O2 - BHO: Nothing - {b0398eca-0bcd-4645-8261-5e9dc70248d0} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp34A1.tmp

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {BA52B914-B692-46c4-B683-905236F6F655} - (no file)

04 - HKLM\..\Run: [winupdates] C:\Program Files\winupdates\winupdates.exe /auto

Close ALL other windows and programs then click Fix Checked..

Reboot

Can you boot to normal mode??

Either way post a new HijackThis log and any info you have...like when you get a blue screen it should give you a detailed error msg...copy it down and include in next post..the more details we have the better off we will be.

But we need to try to get you in normal mode..it 's not ABSOLUTELY necessary but it is preferred

No luck yet. :(

I edited the post because it was 12:00 at night and I thought I should add more details. :(

I followed the above steps okay (and thank you for them) except for in the ms-java window the stop button was disabled, and it said it was already stopped. I don't know if that's good or bad...

But I got everything else okay...

I tried restarting and it still crashed, but I got the error-message... Main things said

"The end user has manually generated a crashdump"

and the numbers were

0x000000E2 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

^ (might add one 0)

I hope that helps more...

Again, thanks

Before I was logged in on the Admin. account, now I'm on my account... On the admin account there was no problems but on this account every 4-5 minutes I get this pop-up thing...

Also the only suspicious thing I could find in Task Manager was smss.exe, which I don't know what it is...

error11sl.jpg

Don't know if that is very important... Still can't boot in normal

Do you think I should uninstall Prevx1? That is when the booting troubles started but maybe not why...

Got notice of this as I was walking out the door for work..will post this afternoon...

couple of questions..You are unable to log in to Windows in normal mode under Any account.. is that correct?? Have you tried to create a new one (with admin priv) and see if you can boot then.... Have you installed/added anything around the time the trouble started?? Do you have the winXp Installed Cd??

More later
