Common Security Misconceptions

Recommended Posts

Microsoft has a very good article on common misunderstadings that often fool people into believing their PC is "invincible". Some good points made. Discusses such topics as:

1. "My computer came with an antivirus program installed—I'm safe"

2. "I update my antivirus every day so I must be safe"

3. "I turned my firewall off so that {insert program name} will work but it doesn't matter—there is nothing on my PC that anybody would want anyway"

4. Cookies are spyware

5. Internet Accelerators speed up Internet connections

6. Change to Browser X and you'll be safe

Worth a read. :matrix:
