I hope I can explain this. Besides the problems with IE I am updating my DirecWay (Satellite internet) modem.

Following directions with new unit I get to THIS PAGE and need to add another connection link for the DW in the "LAN or High-speed internet" section. (Old modem was installed on my puter, on new one the modem stands alone and links to puter with ethernet cable). I've gone thru the windows help but still cannot figure out how to do it. It should show an icon similar to the others with "local area connection" as the title.

Using XP.

Thanks

DICK

Hi Dick and yours

Referred from thesidekickcat

On my DW-6000 connects to a Linksys wireless router costs about $40 bucks

Gives me 4 outputs hard wire eithernet or firefire if you wish

Running on my laptop now but did have my give away desktop at the the same time

I'm too stupid to figure out your screen

All I did was plug them in and all worked perfect

Remember a router is the best firewall as my Norton firewall never pops up anymore with attacks or false readings

Hope I helped and believe you still have my E-Mail addy or should be in public profile

Not on any boards much anymore

Hi thesidekickcat

Yes it hurts and nothing can be done for my cat,, other than love him,,thanks for asking

Marsh

Hi Marsh,

I do have a Linksys WRT54G and it is in my bro-in-laws house hooked up to his cable system. It reaches out to my MH so I'm happy about that. I haven't unhooked from there yet to try with the 6000. Trying to set up the 6000 with the ethernet cable from the modem. When I tried installing I got to the page shown in other post and that's it. Couldn't get any further. An installer on the DW forum this evening suggested I disable the 'bridges' shown on that page but didn't know how to do it and I don't either. Just trying to get all my ducks in a row with the DW before I head to Fl and have to use it all the time. (I'll miss the wireless connection on the cable---very fast.)

Still thinking about Branson?

thesidekickcat--Thanks for getting Marsh to look at my post.

WhooHooo!!! Yippie!!! Yeaaa!!! B)

Sure am glad you got it fixed. I hope you wrote it all down so you will have it if you ever need to redo it someday. Or to help someone else with the same problem down the road.

So now you have that fixed, when are heading down to Fl was it? Lucky Sunbirds!!!

Travel safe and enjoy the sunny warm weather while the rest of us shiver and shake in our boots, and overcoats, carrying our umbrellas ever on the ready for more rain. Or heaven forbid a repeat of last year's snow and ice storm.

God bless everyone.

Oh yeah--I printed it out and put it with my DW stuff. Still have to do my old laptop yet.

Heading to DC thur for our (Ia Drang Valley Survivors) annual banquet and the next mornings ceremony at The Wall. Be back here (Illinois) the following monday. Start getting things packed & ready and heading to Fl on the 18th. With the obligatory stop at the Tunica, Ms casinos.

I'll try and think of all of you in the frigid north this winter. Yeah sure! Last winter, at the same place, I actually had to put on long pants one day. Got a bit chilly.
