You could then format and install Win98SE. Only load the Windows generic drivers. Place the hard drive back in then install the modem/Ethernet drivers so you can connect to the Internet and install the laptop's motherboard, video and other necessary drivers. What make and model is it?the cd-rom is a lg cd-rom crn-8241b the laptop is a ams tech. i also noticed that when i put in a cd the light for the cdrom lights up and blinks like it is reading the cd Quote Link to post Share on other sites

You can get lens cleaners for cheap at any local electronics store. Just pop one of those in and 99% of the time the cd/dvd drive usually starts working again Quote Link to post Share on other sites
