Ie Font Size Changing On It's Own?

Recommended Posts

Asking for SisterSue---

Her IE keeps changing text size all by itself--she goes to "view/text size/medium", works for a while, then it changes itself to "largest size"...?... Anyone know of a fix to keep the text the size she sets it to?

It's a Dell Laptop, XP, probably "top of the line", dial up, I think...(remote area)

Thanks in advance (I keep convincing her to sign up here. Thanks to you folks, I've already managed to answer some of her questions just from reading the great advice here....she thinks I'm a geek but I always credit this place for the tiny bit I've gleaned...y'all KNOW I'm not a geek! :D )

If she has Eudora or Outlook .

If IE-View-Text Size does not stick....

---solution 1

If you are using Eudora 4.2 or greater then use Tools-Options-Viewing

Mail and uncheck "Use Microsoft's viewer"

It is Eudora that is setting the IE text size and unchecking that

option will stop it.

The key that Eudora 4.x will change is this:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet

Explorer\International\Scripts\3]

"IEFontSize"=hex:02,00,00,00

---solution 2

In Outlook 2000 go to Tools/Options/Mail Format/Fonts/International

Fonts, and for each font

change the "Font Size" entry to your desired size.

More info.

"Larger" font size keeps reverting to "medium"

If it's not a technical issue (as referenced in the previous post) it could be "operator error."

If she uses the scroll wheel a lot she may be inadvertantly changing the font size. If you're holding a key while scrolling that's an IE shortcut to change the font size.

Hmm, to jog my memory of which key to hold I was trying to force the font size here to change, but I can't get it to work here. Instead of IE changing the font size, which I KNOW it is capable of doing by using the scroll wheel, I get sent to previous and next posts. I guess this forum overrides the IE shortcut.

Maybe someone else can state how it happens and how you can quickly change it back using the scroll wheel.

------

Yeah, Ctrl+Scroll. When the font's changed just click on text somewhere on the page, hold the Ctrl key & scroll up or down to change the font size in IE larger or smaller. (That's the shortcut, the full-length method is: IE's View menu, Text Size option, select the size you want (medium for me).

Sidenote: So it didn't work here, but as soon as I went to another site the font had been changed, it was so small it was totally illegible. :)

So, it worked, sort of, just not on this forum's page.

Ooof, grunt , tug, owwww...yup, shamelessly pulling this thread up!

SisterSue has been 48 hours with stress free surfing due to that first link, Terrorist *knocks wood* and she says "thank you, thank you, thank you!" I don't know what Eudora is, but she apparently has it and her text size appears to be fixed!

 And I thank each and every one of you, too!

Much love,

Liz
