Firefox Memory Leak Problem?

Recommended Posts

Minimize it to the taskbar then maximize it. The memory use should be reduced. So I have read. That is the main reason I quit using it. Other reasons include more security holes than IE so it is constantly revamped which caused many extensions not to work. I got tired of messing with it. I tried Avant but that soon had some problems. Once I switched to Opera I discovered a browser that works very well and does what I need.

with 21 tabs open in ff I am using under 100mbwith I E if I had that many windows open I would lock up my computer. I wonder if that is why some people show large usage of memory

Both browsers opened to a plain site like google FF uses 2mb less than IE. FF - 17MB IE - 19MB

When opened up to Homestar Runners Site main page 3 they both ran about the same at 21-22MB.

*Note this is on my Bedroom computer. Athlon XP 2600+, 512MB PC2100 RAM, No extensions, I need to test on my main system and check that out, Athlon XP 3000+, 1024MB PC3200*

*EDIT nevermind I lied IE is only at 12 on google but is at 21-22 on homestar though. The 19 was on MSN. never changed any IE settings on this computer cause I always used firefox.*

I use about twice the extensions, have about 10 tabs open constantly and am almost always downloading something.

I am running at 227MB right now for FF. I have 1.5gb of RAM though so I don't care.

Check tools/ options/ privacy/ cache

see how much memory you have allocated to caching web pages etc.
