How To Compress A Large Video ?

i have a 850 mb avi movie cd and i tried using avi file splitter and the problem is when i cut in two it wont cut properly and get corrupted everytime i use this splitter.

when i download one of the movies i saw in pitch black for 809mb and after i download the movie the guy who made this movie said that you can burn this in a cd ?

i was puzzled how this guy compress a 800mb avi file to a 700 mb in a cd?

what software do i need to make this compression?

Open "Windows Movie Maker".

Click "Import Video".

Find Your Video and Click OK.

Drag the video into the timeline at the bottom of the screen.

Click File > Save Movie File > My Computer > Name it then choose a place to save it > Click Next > SHow More OPtions > "Fit to Size" (choose 700 mb) > Next
