even though an older version of HJT you have a lot of infections

1st go into the Control Panel > to Internet Options and clear the cache, delete cookies, temp files, etc then run these: (I always install them and reboot to run them in safe mode)

Ewido Security Suite

A2 Squared Free

Stinger

so run these programs and then run HJT and post a log (make sure you run it from it's own folder and also in folder options allow all hidden/system files to be seen)

Hi,

Did you run those scans? If you did, please run Ewido:

Please download ewido security suite it is a free version of the program.

  1. Install ewido security suite
  2. When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu

[*]Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop, double-click it.

[*]The program will now open to the main screen.

[*]When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.

[*]You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

  • On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
  • Then click on Start Update.

[*]The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

(the status bar at the bottom will display ("Update successful")

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.

ewido manual updates

Once the updates are installed do the following:

  • Click on scanner
  • Click on Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
  • You will be prompted to clean the first infection.
  • Select "Perform action on all infections", then proceed.
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
  • Click Save report.
  • Save the report .txt file to your desktop or a location where you can find it easily.

Close ewido security suite.

Post a new log and the Ewido log as well.

Danny

Hi,

Before we begin:

I recommend that you uninstall Morpheus. This P2P program is considered to have spyware in the older versions, and would be better replaced by a different one.

Check here for more info.

Next, open HijackThis, click the "Scan" buttonn, and check the following items:

http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/aproposfix.exe

Save it to your desktop but do NOT run it yet.

Then please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:

1) Restart your computer

2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.

3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear

4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

Once in Safe Mode, please double-click aproposfix.exe and unzip it to the desktop. Open the aproposfix folder on your desktop and run RunThis.bat. Follow the prompts.

When the tool is finished, please reboot back into normal mode, and post a new HijackThis log, along with the entire contents of the log.txt file in the aproposfix folder.

Hi,

We have a few things left to do.

Open HijackThis, click the Scan button, and check the following item:

O20 - Winlogon Notify: WindowsUpdate - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ksdhu.dll (file missing)

O23 - Service: Remote Packet Capture Protocol v.0 (experimental) (rpcapd) - Unknown owner - %ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.exe" -d -f "%ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.ini (file missing)

Close all windows except HijackThis, and click the "Fix Checked" button.

Reboot and post a new log.

Danny

Go to Start > Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok

Scroll down and find the below services:

Remote Packet Capture Protocol v.0 (experimental)

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, under the General tab click the Stop button, then click the drop-down box to change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Open HiJackThis, click on "None of the above, just start the program". Now, click on the "Config" button (bottom right), then click on "Misc Tools", then click on "Delete an NT Service" a window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name):

rpcapd

Click OK.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Click YES.

Post a new HiJackThis log after it reboots and let me know if you received any error messages.
