Gzip is a compression format that speads up forum page loads in large forums.

It means that the pages are stored on the server in a compressed state, so that the members have better performance in loading pages.

Saves bandwidth and CPU cycles.

Actually Gzip doesnt store the pages, it just compresses them up before it sends the data to your browser and then your browser decompresses it. It saves bandwith, and it doesnt speed it up, it actually slows it by a second.
