Computer Hijack

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My computer has something in it... I have an about:blank as a homepage on my IE and a red page telling me to cover my tracks by downloading privacy software as my homepage- and also on my desktop. It will not go away. A red band requesting this download at the top and bottom of most internet pages I browse is also present.

Also, my CD drawer opens on its own regularly, and occasionally is accompanied by a system popup asking if I want to download privacy software.

I have run Spybot, Notron antivirus can, Adaware SE, Aboutbuster& CWshredder- with no use...

The Spybot picks up CallingHome.biz and Spy Sheriff each time I scan- and when I remove these 2, spybot informs me that I have removed 3 entries!

I don't know what is going on- have had a go on attacking the problem by reading your forums- to no avail.

Please find attached my log...

Please help!

Many thanks

Dave.

Hi,

I think I have sussed it out... My system kept restoring itself after each fix- so after deactivating the system restore- the Spybot, CWS Shredder etc clean worked for the about:blank and the IE (& cd drawer)... I have removed the red thing from the desktop by simply deleting it in the display menu... i'm not sure if it has gone for good- but everything seems ok for now...

Deactivating the system restore seems so simple that i'm kicking myself I didn't think of it before...

Thanks anyway besttechie

Dave.
