what makes his secret custom even better and i just looked it up to be sure. he has more posts than anyone else. yep! he has the most posts but doesn't want a custom title like everyone else. he's even more cleaver and diabolical than i thought. ;)

(raises eyebrow and makes thinking look while lightly stroking chin)

hmmmmmm. maybe too cleaver and diabolical.

hey tenm why don't you want a custom title anyway, or since everyone else including members that haven't gotten enough posts have custom titles  have them. maybe not having a custom title when you could have one is your way of having a unique custom title. which would make yours the most unique one of all. it's so confusing.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

No ego to pacify, the count is not why I am here.

B could zero it out and it would make no difference to me... :pirate:

maybe too cleaver and diabolical

Too old and settled in my ways is more like it. :whistling:

Ok, Tenmm,

The TV Nanny says "time out" is one minute per year of age---21 minutes, right? You can come out of the corner now, We'd miss you if you were "timed out" any longer :)  Glad it got fixed!  That change would have thrown anyone for a loop.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

The last time I saw 21 was in a casino in Jackpot,Nev. and that was a Verrrrrrrry longgggg time ago. :o

Had to leave the corner so I could refurbish a door today,I am off work untel the 10th of this month,I will work 5 days then head south.

So I have been working harder at home than I do at work <_< so I can rest when I get back.

Tenmm, Macmarauder and Jeff (in the comments section with the directions...) I am so glad you folks posted about all this. Although I feel like I totally cheated  I changed my moniker. Like Tenmm, postcounts are unimportant to me and having "techie" under my name really bothered me. You all know how techinical I am (!) and having that title intimidated me when I did reply with a "hopefully helpful" post. Now, hopefully I'm not misleading anyone when I do try to offer a suggestion :) Thank you!!

"i am not a number! i am a man"

"don't touch me you dirty ape." "back in line slave!"

(looks at badge #) "ha your only a level 3 you'll have to wait your turn" (#462 an elderly woman walks up to the counter just as a man strides in front of her) "ohhh right this way mr. briggs, i'll help you right away" "he he he it's good to be a level 9 :D "

Funny Stuff MAC...

And Blim you shouldn't be so hard on yourself...it isn't the easiest thing to pick up, but i bet there are several areas of life I couldn't explain or understand and you could write books on them.

"It isn't a matter of what you know, but a matter of what you do with what you know!"

Thanks, Vile! That's a nice thing to say. Pshaw, with tech, I'm still trying to conquer the language (why, oh why can't they just say "start the computer" instead of "boot" ) I do, however now tell the kids stuff, thanks to this place. They give me this crazy look and say "how did you know that?!?" By the time the next new operating system comes out, I'll have conquered XP :D

My rant today is Crabgrass. That's all. Just Crabgrass.

Hey blim...

You weren't alone on this. I thought the same thing... :D Post count is unimportant to me also. I'm not that technical either.....I'm still learning...

But hey....maybe some day... ....we'll get to help people like an expert...

*I didn't know we could change our titles(or what ever they'er called) until I came across this post.

I always did like Forum Junkie...hhmmm... ...ya... :D ...I'll go back to Forum Junkie....

RV, yeah, I like Forum Junkie, too. We're digressing.

With post counts, yep, if mine went to zero, that'd be fine!! Shortly after I joined this forum, my son went here, looked at my post count and said, "mom !! (in that sarcastic tone that kids are sooo good at) You're a spammer!" So, I tried to keep my big mouth shut but kept seeing posts that I couldn't resist jumping into. Sigh, I talk too much "outside the internet", too. My parents didn't call me motormouth for nothing

yeah blim don't be so hard on yourself. i still don't call myself an expert at anything. no matter how much you learn and do there's still more to do and learn. besides like Vile said i bet there's quite a few things that you could teach us computer geeks.

now on to ranting about the post count thing. as obviously the least informative poster here i am the local expert is molecular drivel. ( ha ha i just proved myself wrong about never claiming to be an expert ) yep that is what i call the nonsense that i post here. i don't really help in the other sections and spend almost all of my time here in the open chat section. and yet i think that either my juicy joke filled posts have some sort of mind control or just having fun here makes a real difference. we are more than just the collection of forgotten children of Tech Tv, we are a community of fellow forum goers. Tenm is right when we start posting just to raise our status then we degrade the quality of this place. fortunately our group thanks to other boards have learned that your title doesn't matter. there were members on leoville that had been there for years but still haven't gotten out of the first level. they just lurked alot or didn't have time to post as much but they still cared greatly about the community.

so please be post friendly :D:D:D:D and don't feed the lurkers  you will spoil their dinners ^_^

"forum junkie" That's me. I spend time on about 5-6 and when bored, up to 12... Who the hell cares about post count? I just love spending time interacting with all the great folks I find on the net. If I can help, I do. If not I usually learn sumthin'.

BTW, (hope this ain't spamming) southernlady?

is a great place to visit, kinda a whole forum of Besttechie Chat.

Bozodog, that is a neat link, has the same friendliness as BT's. Thanks for sharing that! Where in MI is she from?

And Macmarauder, the only reason you don't post much "help" is because Apple Computers actually work!!! You moderate a lonely forum, you're kinda like a Maytag Repairman. (but you look so good in purple  ) But, I'm glad for that, we need you here in Chat to liven things up!!

Can't I give the lurkers an apple?? That's nutritious. I was one for way too long--lurkers get hungry :)

Ok, one *BIG* rant! F*ck the terrorists and the hole they climbed out of! And their hatred preaching "religious leaders"

Burn in hell you b**tards! I'm praying for you.

You damn cowards ought to put on a uniform and fight on a battle field against *real* warriors, not innocent people just trying to make a life for themselves and theirs.

You Go, Bozodog!!! It is a shame when war comes knocking on innocents doors. I know there will always be a war somewhere in this mixed up world, but its really upsetting when terrorists break the "rules of war". Were any of Brit's friends or family affected by the recent explosions in London?

No, Blim. No family there, but has a few friends living there. One was here in Philly on holiday, and the other is safe and helping a friend of hers that was burned quite badly in one of the blasts. Thanx for asking.

ok, a rant not about terrorist but some of the common tactics that some of them use. mostly taliban. using people as human shields. just low can they go. they put up camp in a school in the middle of a small town and make people go about their daily business. kids still went to classes and such. then we can't just bomb the crap out of them and danit if there's one thing that us americans have perfected above the rest of the world it's bombing the crap out of things. you can bet that if it wasn't for such tactics that this so called war wouldn't have lasted long at all. they just won't fight like a regular army. it's truly like fighting a evil bad guy that will do anything and sacrafice anyone but himself to win. also bozodog is totally right. another thing that gets on my nerves is that they practically brainwash people. reminds me of the hitlers nazi army. they used such similar methods. america is evil my but. speaking of evil, it is so stupid for bush to refer to them as evil. they are not evil. we just got stuck in the middle of a long long long holly war that is really starting to piss me off. as far as i'm concerned religion is the last reason to die for. oh don't get me started on religion. i have studied it my whole life far more than most and with an open mind i have come to the conclusion that especially christianity and the degraded carbon copies of which are the greatest mind screw of all times. what ever happened to the idea of deciding on your own what was right and wrong or following your heart to do the right thing. there it is. there's a replacement for religion. the bible is like a movie script that goes through countless drafts, gets passed back and fourth to the producers, director, accounting, writers. a story line full of wholes, sudden ridicules plot twists, and radical changes to the characters. scenes cut for time and believability. then there's the fact that it's been pieced together from dozens of works where the writer was trying to get his little piece into this great work through hundreds of years. and all of this crap is what these holly wars are about. religion has been by far the biggest source of death to soldiers and innocents ever. all in the name of worshipping that religions god or gods.

sorry but i personally believe that our whole existence might as well by a giant version of the game "The Sims" as long as we fallow the rules. come on sims get a little irate and stop playing the game.

Agreed! (readies the fire extinguisher) Probably because I have such a mixed Religious background (Jewish/Protestant/Pilgrim (Puritan) Ancestry and parents who chose churches not by the name on the door, but the "attitude" inside), I have always been open minded and curious about all Faiths. Teaching Sunday School to Middle and High Schoolers, with their wonderfully profound questions made me "think", too!! (Whoohooo, what debates we have had--the Pastor always worried when I closed the classroom door!!)

The one thing I did figure out, is that Humans were Blessed with this amazing brain and it should be used to be objective and question everything, even Religion, after all what do Religious Scholars talk about and how do they learn???? And a select group of human's opinions aren't necessarily "right". And I think the God I believe in is saddened by these Religious wars.

I remember a movie called "Oh God", where, when God (George Burns, gotta love that casting!) was asked, "Is Jesus the Son of God?"

He answered "Jesus is my Son, Mohammad is my Son, Buddah is my Son".

What wonderful writing!! If the world could only embrace that.

i don't even mind the idea that someone, like lets say Ala or Buddha are the only real god. FINE! believe what you want but what really erks me is all the crusades in the name of religion and the idea that others who do not believe in a particular religion that they are lesser and deserve to die.

ohh and to continue on that i absolutely love the thought of how some people that feel so strongly about their religion think that they are just following their religion. guess again! i'm getting pretty good at ripping apart religious interpretations and i love how i change how people perceive their own beliefs. especially since if those people that felt strong enough to try and wipeout tons of people, if they had actually studied their religion they might find out that what they were doing was the opposite of what their religion believed.

here's a funny word for you "religious interpretation". boy has that one been stretched to the max before.

Ok, so my sweet Brit gets stopped by the cops yesterday. Seems the plate on my van is expired and doesn't belong to the van or me... WTF????? SOMEONE STOLE MY PLATE AND REPLACED IT WITH AN EXPIRED ONE! How long ago? Where? I dunno, who the hell looks at the plate number? My subconscious eye sees a blue plate where it's supposed to be, so no problem. Right?

Watta mess, had the cop follow him home in the hopes of correcting it. Yeah, sure.... Title? yep. Registration? yep. Proof of insurance? yep. Drivers license? two, one CDL and one UK. You live here? yep, 25 years. Why does the VIN come back as impounded or held? I dunno. Where is your plate? I dunno. Do you know this woman? nope. Can I search the van? yep. How long you been in the US? almost 6 months. Are you in trouble here or the UK? nope. You sure you don't know the woman that owns this plate? yep. How long has yours been gone? I dunno. I'm gonna run that UK license,(as soon as I find out how) you sure you're not in trouble? yep. I'm running yours now. Ok. So howcome your plate expires in Dec.? that's my birthday stupid. Howcome you have this plate? dunno. I have to take this plate cause it ain't yours. figured that. So, how do I get a replacement? cops says, dunno. What's the address here? 233, it's on all the paperwork you have in your lap stupid. 20 years, never saw a UK license. You sure your allowed to drive here? yep. Well, if I have anymore (stupid) questions, I know where you live. really? (you're in my damn driveway)

Ok, cops leaves, I hop into my van without a plate, drive to license shop, across town, pay $5, install new plate in parking lot, come home and drink more then a few beers...

Stupid damnedable thieves! Gonna get tortx screws to make it real tough for that to happen again. Stupid cheating arsholes. Anyone wanna bet the cops don't do anything about it?

oh no! that happened to my mother once. stupid thieves :angry2:

they only took the back one so she had 2 different plates on the van. in her case they found out that a guy had stolen a car and her plate to put on the car. he had the stolen car for months before he was caught driving around California like it was his. btw bozodog here's a little tidbit, some times the cops here purposely re ask questions to try and catch you in a lie. or the cop could've just been an idiot or something. hey didn't you say that the vin came back as impounded? if so than he shouldn't have let you go with the vehicle. that's not a part of the car that can be changed easily like those plates. you must've meant the plate #. one time way way back when i was working for my dad at the car lot this lady bought a car and went to register it and get her plates. she came back in a fury cause she got pulled over for a speeding ticket and the police computer said that the car was stolen. they were right. the car was a trade in and the title was faked and all but one of the vin # was changed. there's vin stamps in hidden places that most people don't know about. the cop just happened to know 1 of those spots. when the vin # came back as belonging to another type of vehicle so he found the real 1.

well sorry to hear about your bad day. :( here some flowers to cheer you up.

Awwww, thanx for the flowers. Mac. And no, it *was* the VIN he ran.. after verifiying it with all the paper work, and the dispatcher, they determined it was a glich with their computer. He also ran my plate number and license. Heh heh he didn't know what/how to run the Brit's UK one though. (wanna bet it got run when he got back to the station?) And yes he *was* probing with those questions. He was no dummie. He was very polite (ermm, and handsome) Just doing his job. And fortunately, the weather didn't get drunk out till after the trip to get the replacement plate. So, I was also polite and articulate.

Thieves just pi$$ me off!

Oh, my gosh, Bozodog!!! Poor Brit!!!

That whole scenerio is just awful.....or laughable, I'm still deciding which! I take it no tickets were issued for confusing a cop, which is good, but boy, how rotten to have your plate stolen. When MI went to the "sticker system", we were warned to keep an eye on the stickers, fortunately, we never had a problem, never thought to keep an eye on the whole darned plate!!.

You tell a great story, though (love the "I dunno"s :D )
