Internet Connection Issues (with Vista?)

Recommended Posts

The PC I have that I brought down with me after the school semester is currently unable to access the internet via the router. When it is connected to the modem directly via Ethernet cable it can go online, but when connected to the router it can't, despite the fact it appears to have no issues communicating with the router itself, since the PC can change router settings. This issue accessing the internet doesn't exist with the other PCs in the household.

The major thing differentiating this PC from the others is all the others run Windows XP while this problem machine runs Vista. Prior to the semester there were no issues accessing with the router and computer, but over the semester there was an issue requiring a reformat so I'm wondering if it's possible that some critical piece of software is missing.

Thanks.

ok, firsty, you must be connecting to a network, right?

if so, have you gone back through and try to set up a new connection?

do you have the dchp enabled for your connection?

do you let windows set up your ip or do you set it manually?
