Hey guys, so I recently started having trouble with my AIM. It disconnects me randomly. I used to get the problem a couple years ago, but it was my entire internet connection and was a problem with the router we had. It's not a general internet problem this time though, because when it disconnects, my regular internet connection is completely fine. Everyone I've talked to says they can't see when I disconnect and they don't disconnect either. I tried reinstalling several times, to several different versions, and the only thing they had in common was that I used the AIM Ad Hack version, but I've used that for years without any problems. Upon the last couple installs AVG said it found a trojan in one of the install files so I followed step 1 of the malware removal sticky and it seems to have gotten rid of the trojan, but not the disconnecting problem. I'm not really sure what else I can do, and I was hoping someone of you all gurus here could help! Much appreciated!

Josh

You might want to consider changing to a different messenger client and server Like Windows Live (formerly MSN Messenger) or even Yahoo.

Time Warner could not find anyone to buy AOL and were tired of absorbing the financial loss so they just "spun it off" (dumped it and let it be an independent company which can survive or fail on its own). It is down to some 12 Million customers and is at best the number four search engine and is loosing money big time. Chances are it will not survive the year.

It could be a problem with their servers; maybe they are moving or closing them down trying to cut costs. Or it could be that they are searching for and disconnecting those who are blocking their ads since this costs them revenue which they desperately need if they are to have any chance of surviving.
