Marty:

I have Malwarebytes on XP and Vista. Are you doing the FULL scan or QUICK scan? Full scan does take a long time, but quick scan is done within 10-15 min. or less.

I do a quick scan weekly, and a full scan monthly. Both XP and Vista about same amount of time. Not too much difference that I have noticed.

Hi marty, try cleaning your temps out first, It can make a difference if you have a lot of them.As for the full scan, most experts say its not necessary to run, just do the quick scan is all thats needed.

Here is a speech we use:

Please download ATF cleaner

Make sure that all browser windows are closed.

  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    Under Main choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser

  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser

  • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
    Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Hope this helps

You take care over there Marty.

Chuck

Marty have you optimized Vista yet? Turned off Aero, glass, whatever fancy effects it has by default on your stytem, disabled UCE and all the other crap that just slows everything down?

Some suggestions here

Another thing that could affect your scan time is the antivirus / protection you have. Are they different between the two machines?

What about drive size, and amount of files? Number of profiles?

Did you choose the quick scan on both? Ah, I see, the quick scan found nothing, the complete found zango. In the log (run MBAM, click the logs tab and look for the correct log) where does it say it found it? System restore? A download folder where you had something you had downloaded but not installed? Bundled software you had not installed?
