jaredshaw Posted December 30, 2008 Report Share Posted December 30, 2008 last night i worked for hours trying to clean up my mom's computer from some sort of virus/spyware that prevents getting windows update. it seems the thing found its way home to our compter via my usb drive. now both computers are behhaving the same. on the c drive would appear a folder named "resycled" and a 0kb application named "boot.com." I found and deleted references of "boot.com" through regedit and deleted the "resycled" and "boot.com" files as well as an "autorun.ini" file that ran the "boot.com" app. Zonealarm (the current version of security suite, updated definitions today) found and quarrantined "Trojan.Win32.Agent.avjo". jwbirdsong Posted January 2, 2009 Report Share Posted January 2, 2009 Start by downloading Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or HereDouble Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a DDS logs (instructions follow).Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.Disable any script blocker, and then double click ddsto run the tool. When done, DDS will open two (2) logs DDS.txt Attach.txt[*]Save both reports to your desktop.-- Note: The screen instructions will indicate the attach.txt must be zipped before attaching to your forum post.
