Vnc Networking Issues

Hi there,

I'm trying to set up a VNC to remotely connect to my pc from my mac. Currently been trying all sorts of things like setting the firewall on both machines. The problem is that the pc can see the mac, but the mac can't see the pc.

If any one could offer any suggestions, they would be most welcome!

did you open up VNC on the Mac on allowed services..

Also when you say can see it.. do you mean you did a ping..

what are the IPs of the machines.. and how are they wired?

Yep, its currently set to allows incoming connections. Its over a wireless local network, so all the IP addresses are correct, no need for port forwarding. And finally yeah, I did mean the ping...

did you try turning the firewall off completely on the pc? This would be a good was to rule the firewall out as a possible issue.

I have done, and the mac still cant see the pc, but the pc can see the mac regardless of the firewall being on or off.

If the firewall is off and you are able to ping it, it almost seems as the VNC server is not even running. I would try reinstalling the server.

Ok, after finding a silly mistake I had made (Norton Firewall was blocking it) I can now ping both ways. However, this doesn't solve the problem. Now the remote desktop brings up another error saying that I was disconnected from the windows based machine due to networking problems and to make sure that I am connected to the internet.

Any ideas?
