hi all recently ive had al sorts of trouble with my eyes

to make it worse i damages my glasses

for normal costs

the problem is the cost of the glasses

$600

may not be much for many

but when you are retired like me

i need to shop around

ok my gp

gave me this website to see if

i can get a pair at minimule cost

and to try and

sort out afforable glasses

and ive just got my first pair

back

and they are brilliant

so ime posting the sight

i hope this isnt spamming the board

as ime sure there are many on the board

need think about the cost under normal circimstances

so take a look at the sight

to me this isnt spamming

Hi Marty!!!!...

Here in the States there are a lot of Eyeglass places that take donations of old glasses and from people who have passed away then recycle them for people who can't afford an expensive pair...

Maybe there is some place like that around where you are that has the same prescription you need and you could get them fairly cheap and put the lenses in new frames...

Cheers,

Keith

hi all sorry i havent been back since i posted

but my eye sight hasent got any better

i went to the optician

last week and then results were

since i goty last set of glasses

my eyesight has deteriated 17 percent

so ime in need of a stronger pair

which ive alredy ordered

here we have a scheme were

superanuants [old buggers]

can got glasses witch are subsidise by a

superfund

which ive paid into over the years

$22 a year until i retire

the glasses in the

post i sent in

are no different from the

ones recommended by my optician

the catch is

you have to get a recommendation

from an optician

registered in that scheme

the new glasses take some getting used to as they are a bit stronger

as my old bi focals

i got my old ones repaired for $35

which i use as a spare

i have a freind in boston

who informs me that bifocals are very cheap

where he comes from

about 20% cheaper

but ime happy as i dont pay the full cost

posters may have noticed

while my eyes were troublesome

i was making a lot of mistakes

on the board

and that worried me

but hopefully ime near to fixing that now

Gotta buy the OL a new pair soon.

She tripped and scratched one pair of bifocals. The EyeMasters where we bought the pair (buy one get one free) said they could not fix them but could replace the lenses for , yes the same price we had originally paid for two pair.

I was thinking of trying a place called Optical Factory which advertises locally but I think I may give zenni a shot.

Pete, if you have a JCPenneys near you, call them. I saw an ad in last Sunday's paper for $99 glasses, including noline bifocals. My last pair came from JCP, spent extra $ for the thin lightweight lenses but was completely happy with them, once I got used to my first pair of bifocals, that is!!

Thought of JCP for Marty but I betcha there aren't any in NZ  Sears occasionally has $99 sales, too. My current pair of specs are from Sears.
