Hey marty:-)

Great to hear you're using Linux again. Just to clarify things a bit. So you can get on the Internet using the Epiphany browser and I'll assume you can check your e-mail. So your Internet connection is fine.

Have you tried to manually type in an Internet address in Firefox? The first time you start-up Firefox in Ubuntu it will show a page from your hard drive and not from the Internet. You set your home page in preferences. Have you tried to enter your home page in preferences? I guess you could fire-up the Synaptic package manager and remove Firefox, then re-install it from the repositories.

Weird. Maybe un-installing, re-installing Firefox might work. Sea monkey is another browser you can try or Opera. They should probably be in the repos.

Are you installing Firefox from your Ubuntu CD? Maybe Firefox is corrupt on the CD. Maybe try installing from the repositories after you've removed Firefox from your system.

sudo apt-get install firefox

You're welcome. If you want Seamonkey you may need to go into Synaptic and add a repository. You will need to fire-up Synaptic and go into Synaptic preferences and add the Universe repository. Once you've done that you will need to update synaptic. You can do that at a shell prompt with the command

sudo apt-get update

You can fire-up a shell prompt by going into accessories and click on terminal. Once you have the Universe repo you can install Seamonkey.
