Eric S. Raymond Goes On Rant About Fedora

Recommended Posts

I don't care, but usability is a major factor and well I like fedora much more than Ubuntu, Ubuntu is great I guess for people new to Linux but it breaks really easy, just add webmin and see it kill synaptic and apt when you try to remove it.

Fedora is harder to add extra packages, but the ones it has all work, correctly..

I use Fedora to Test for Red Hat AS installs before buying.

but in any case I like Gentoo and FreeBSD best for servers.

Should anybody care that he doesn't like Fedora?

It's good publicity for Fedora.

just add webmin and see it kill synaptic and apt when you try to remove it.

The webmin package was orphaned and removed from Debian and Ubuntu a little over a year ago. The last Ubuntu release that included it was Breezy.

that sounds like the last time I used it, after it killed the entire package system I stoped all use of Ubuntu.

and for remote servers that I am not going to administer I need webmin for the Windows MCSE people...
