  7. Maybe the files are hidden. To make the hidden files show, do this: * Click Start. * Open My Computer. * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. * Select the View Tab. * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders. * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. * Click Yes to confirm. * Click OK. Now try to find the files. dk

  9. Have you checked: C:\winxp\system32\elitefad32.exe This is probably not a legit folder unless you have installed windows on that folder. To see if you have 2 System32 folders, click Start --> Find, and search for System32. Tell me where each of the folders are located. dk
  10. Hi, Open HijackThis, click the "Scan" button, and check the following items: R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [antiware] C:\winxp\system32\elitefad32.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [antivirus32] ANTIVIRUS.EXE O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [antivirus32] ANTIVIRUS.EXE O21 - SSODL: VkZjo - {3F2A15DC-9580-BF76-AF99-A678692B0DC0} - C:\WINXP\System32\qrtvf.dll If you or your administrator did not put this restriction on Control Panel, also check this item. These restrictions can also be set by software like Spybot Search & Destroy, SpywareBlaster or another similar protection software: O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present. Close all windows except HijackThis, and click the "Fix Checked" button. Locate the following file and delete it: C:\winxp\system32\elitefad32.exe Click Start --> Find. Find the following file and delete it: ANTIVIRUS.EXE Reboot and post a new log. dk

Click >Options over to the left then >program options >untick load at windows startup * Over to the left click shields and untick all there * Untick ie home page shield * Untick automaticly restore default without notifiction Please download the newest version of HijackThis from http://dknoppix.com/Downloads/HijackThis.exe Put that in a permanent folder. (Such as C:\HJT) Open HijackThis, click the "Scan" button, and eventually that will turn into a Save Log button. Post a new log for me to see. dk
  17. No problem. Your log is clean. Follow these steps to keep your computer clean. Please follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure: Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is succeptible to being hacked and taken over. I am very serious about this and see it happen almost every day with my clients. Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly. Here is a great free one: http://www.kerio.com/us/kpf_home.html Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates. Install SpywareBlaster - SpywareBlaster will added a large list of programs and sites into your Internet Explorer settings that will protect you from running and downloading known malicious programs. Download it here: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released. I think that you would benifit from reading "How did I get infected in the first place??". Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically. Glad I was able to help, dk
