  1. I recently got a new PC and am using XP Pro SP3 with a 19 inch LCD monitor. By going into Display - Appearance - Advanced , I've changed most of the fonts to my liking except one and I can't figure out how to do it. Some example areas where this font, I don't like, is used is: Pretty much all of Spybot S&D, the Java based chat client used by Pogo Games and also in Yahoo Messenger such as on its menu and drop down menus. I can change other fonts in Messenger except those I just mentioned. It's the same font used in all these programs which makes me think there is some way to change it. The
  2. Thanks for your offer. However, I did more digging thru that bunch of old diskettes and I found the WP installation files. I did an install and resaved the files without the passwords. I just finished converting them to Word files. Whew.
  3. Hi all, I found a couple of 1.44mb diskettes with some old Wordperfect 5.1 files on them that I'd like to convert to MS Word files. However, the WP files are password protected. I know the passwords for the files; but Word doesn't offer a way to enter the passwords. I no longer have access to Wordperfect so I was wondering if there is another way of opening these password protected WP files in Word or another program? Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi all. I'm running XP Pro SP1 Athlon 1.3ghz with 512mb RAM and IE6. Lately when I surf to certain sites, my IE window will freeze and I must end the program and start over. This doesn't happen on every site; but it seems to be happening more frequently now. I've scanned for spyware, viruses, etc. All clean. I've been told IE may be corrupt and I should do a repair and/or reinstall of XP. I don't have the XP CD anymore. I was wondering, if I updated to XP SP2 (via Windows Update), would this correct the problem? Or is there another possible solution for this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  5. I currently have broadband access via cable modem. I was just wondering who is "responsible" for the download speed/rate? The cable company that provides the connection or the ISP to which I connect? Thanks in advance.
  6. Hi all, I'm currently running an AMD Athlon XP 1500+ with 512mb RAM and XP Pro SP1. Last week I had several brown outs within a short period of time that caused my PC to reboot as many times. (I have since purchased a battery back-up.) I ran Scandisk, etc. to hopefully fix any potential file issues that may have occurred due to the numerous reboots. However, ever since the brown outs, I've been having problems with getting online. When I attempt to sign on, my ISP attempts to initialize my cable modem and then I get an error message about the DNS server(s) can't be reached. So I went into my
