  4. Well i saw the BFad thread here so I would like to say I got a Toshiba 60 GB 512 DDR-ram Celeron M ( so built in wifi) for $200..I found a way around the AO HELL catch I only found out the night b4 BF...So i speed to Circuit City and spent the night ( i use to make fun of all the gamers that camp out for games and stuff) I say it was worth the $200...Its not like i'll be doing gaming ( not a gamer) so this will be pretty darn fine for me. Well How much would it cost to up the HD for a laptop ( I can do a desktop, but i dont want to mess with the laptop)

  6. Yes do as i have done for many years ( well about 7 months) keep a shortcut to that hidden folder on your desktop. AFter every so often I just double click and delete the content. I also keep a shortcut to the Temp. Internet files folder ( also hidden.) I was also amazed the first time i went and cleaned this out when it had about 4 gigs of crap in there. For instance if you download an attachment via your email and just "open" it you are really saving it to that TEMP folder, and so on with any othert type of file ( music, etc.) ~Jose
  7. The model # at walmart is ZE2308WM, and its on sale for $398 and im wondering if it is just a stupid celeron type laptop ( good for nothing but web surfing) or something that you can do a little extra on
  8. Its alright if you dont mind reading "noob" stuff. It is mainly directed at entry level issues, but i see most intermediate/higher level people having it. 1. for when they help lower level people, and it is good to get away from teh PC once and a while

  14. Ok, I feel like an idiot for ignoring one of the first steps to troubleshooting an connectivity problem. Stop anti-virus/Firewall or any other program which can mess with connectivity. Well I didnt know he had norton internet security, but I should have asked instead of spending 1 hour fixing his computer. Ok, It was weird I went to the command prompt, and checked that it said he had an ip address/gateway/subnet mask which he did. Then I went to "network connections" and it said the connection was "connected". So I was wondering why wasnt the internet working properly. Well I had to re-config
  15. Nice, Thank You I thought so but its been so long I had to make sure

  17. Thank you guys I am live and kicking now http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=293078 http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?...0cf3a478&SID=11 So yes i t may have been a video driver error. I never knew of a video driver doing those things, guess you learn a new thing every day. I was right no auto-protect b/c i was in safe mode. The issue has been solved ( system restore) and then the link came up, so I am going to look for update for all my devices. Problem: Windows restarts after logging in ( the system logs into and shows the desktop with processes starting, then shuts off randoml
  18. video driver you say... I suppose i will grab my manual for my MOBO ( to see where i need to get it) The reason i believe its a trojan/virus is b/c my Norton Auto-Protect is off ( could be due to being in safe mode, i cant check in regular b/c it doesnt load in time), as well as email scanning. I have ran AVAST PRO Norton 2003 PRo McAfee Online Scanner and nothing has come up. I am about to try a good ole sytem restore , and if that doesnt fix it, i will be back in safemode trying to find the video driver
  19. update below in code C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386\smss.exe should it bere there? I am looking to see if that is the possible infection Ok,well when i try to boot my PC up it will go to log-in screen, and after logging in after a few seconds the computer restarts. I am currenlty in "safe mode with networking" scanning with my Norton, and if nothing comes up AVAST PRO. What i need is your opinions on what i am about to say To my belief it is a virus on my computer due to the fact that it will load up perfectly to log-in screen, and even load desktop ( until it restarts). This takes away th
